Crux Gallery

At the invitation of Crux Gallery's exhibit "Avenues of Seduction," Nelson created this 13ft high x 8ft Wide x 50ft Deep multi-media Castle. The castle was a critique on the government's questionable use of the military overseas and the invisible line between government and entrepreneurs.

Mr. Whitey's Wild Ride

This installation was a multi-media walk-thru with sharp angles, an audio loop of "Step off to the right" as encountered on an air terminal moving pedway, and dangling symbolic objects to work thru or stoop under. Also wheelchair accessible. Inside. a portrait of Panama's General Noriega was embellished with dozens of rubber cockroaches. References to Iraq and Panama were made with manipulated toys and fibers. When finally exiting the back of the castle, their was a right angled shelving of Disney Mouseketeer hats with the patch torn off each and replaced by a painted "Zero." For Crux Gallery's opening reception, Nelson passed out separate Mouseketeer hats to guest as he stood by the gallery's entrance.
